Look Kéo Blade Carbon Ceramic Pedals

The new KEO BLADE CARBON CERAMIC is designed to win and improves the experience of spring blade technology in clipless pedals. This new version is the result of the experience of many years of technical development in our factory and constant improvements in daily contact with the greatest cycling champions.

The new KEO BLADE CARBON CERAMIC is light, aerodynamic, powerful and has all the advantages that will allow you to improve your performance and optimise it until victory. That's why many cycling champions unanimously chose the KEO BLADE CARBON CERAMIC as their bike of choice, using it as a weapon, so to speak, to achieve their greatest victories.

The KEO BLADE CARBON CERAMIC thus benefits from the best weight/performance ratio in its category.

The spring leaf is fully integrated into the new design, which thus guarantees unsurpassed aerodynamics. The Blade Carbon with carbon body and spring blade is available as Cr version (chromoly + axle) with 110g per pedal. It is available in three release hardnesses: 12, 16 and 20.

CERAMIC BEARINGS

Each component, each ball is meticulously selected to ensure the highest level of quality and performance. The balls are individually calibrated by a machine down to the micron. They are then arranged by size in perfectly manufactured bearing rings. Thus, each bearing has a completely individual structure.

The main advantage of ceramic bearings is their durability. The harder and more precisely the balls are worked, the less sensitive they are to external influences and dust deposits. This enables constant and long-lasting performance. Ceramics are also not exposed to the effects of corrosion. These physical properties ensure a service life that is 4 to 6 times longer than that of a standard steel bearing.

The reduction in friction is the most striking and outstanding advantage of ceramic bearings. The perfect spherical shape, their hardness, coupled with the optimisation of the greases used with this material, allows an 18% reduction in the frictional forces exerted on the bearing

OPTIMISED AXLE LINE GREATER FORCE TRANSMISSION AND RELIABILITY

The axle line of the new BLADE CARBON CERAMIC has been completely rethought. It has been built around an oversized axle and a cross-section axle line consisting of an internally positioned ceramic bearing under the bearing surface. This new design makes it possible to gain about 2 watts at 100 rpm.

The distance between the ball bearing and the sleeve needle bearing has been increased by 25%. This provides more stiffness for the entire axle line and consequently improves power transmission.

Special attention has also been paid to tightness. This has been improved by 120% for increased reliability and durability. For this purpose, the new axle line received a new cover with O-ring at its outer end. It is equipped with an internally positioned double lip seal.

LOOK axles are only released after a rotation test of 2 million cycles at 100 rpm with a load of 90 kg at the centre of the pedal and an eccentric rotation (resulting in a shock at each revolution). This is equivalent to André GREIPEL sprinting with 1,700 watts at 100 rpm for 333 hours! This test goes far beyond the applicable ISO 4210 standard.

SUPER STRONG SUPPORT SURFACE

To meet the demands of the most demanding riders - namely competitors - the pedal and cleat system must allow efficient power transmission with a large and rigid contact surface.

The support surface of the BLADE CARBON CERAMIC is equipped with a 67mm wide attached and moulded plate made of stainless steel. It optimises the pedal plate / pedal contact areas for every pedalling angle.

With a contact surface of 700mm², the BLADE CARBON CERAMIC offers an optimised contact surface for efficient power transmission that is unrivalled on the market.

Its weight/performance ratio performs significantly better than that of the competition.

CARBON TECHNOLOGY IN PEDAL BODY AND SPRING

The use of carbon in the pedal body and spring blade allows for a lower pedal weight while increasing stiffness for better power transmission.

The BLADE technology is a significant technological innovation in the history of clipless pedals, as it confers numerous advantages:

  • LOW WEIGHT
  • AERODYNAMICS
  • Very SAFE ENTRANCE/EXIT.
