The P ZERO Velo Tub is a race-ready, modern tubular tyre that was developed within the framework of the World Tour and has already been able to shine with considerable results in its first year.

The P ZERO Velo Tub is the result of several months of intensive development by the FundE department of Pirelli, in cooperation with World Tour PRO riders and their mechanics. All components were tested, modified and optimally adapted to the environment. The P ZERO Velo is made of a 320TPI Corespun with aramid reinforced carcass and a modified latex tube. This has minimised the weight, improved the rolling behaviour and strengthened the puncture protection. The "Yellow Soft" rubber compound also ensures uncompromising handling and a grip that is second to none.

YELLOW SOFT COMPOUND

P ZERO Velo Tub features the "Yellow Soft" rubber compound. A high performance rubber compound specifically designed to maximise handling and grip on dry and wet roads without compromising rolling resistance.

FGD - FUNCTIONAL GROOVE DESIGN

Tyre tread reinvented. Delivers what you need, when you need it.
To fine-tune the tread pattern of P Zero and P Zero Velo 4S (the TT model is a pure slick), Pirelli used the motorsport-inspired Groove Design. The tread pattern, which has not only an aesthetic function, is based on that of the Diablo Supercorsa, one of Pirelli's best SSP tyres (SuperSport class of the World SuperBike racing series). Angles, cross-sections and spacing of the tread pattern have been carefully studied to optimise its performance in water evacuation, dry and wet grip, mileage, responsiveness and ride comfort and handling. The tread pattern is reminiscent of lightning bolts and forms very acute angles in the centre of the tread with pronounced lateral openings on the sides for optimised water dispersion and smooth rolling and even wear. In addition, the tread pattern has progressive depth for improved durability and optimum control even in extreme cornering. The tread of the P Zero Velo is composed of three different sections: the centre consists of a smooth surface for optimal straight-line driving, joined on both sides by more heavily profiled areas for optimal cornering, which merge into semi-slick edges for immediate feedback at the limit when cornering. The result is optimum tyre contact under all driving conditions.

ICS - IDEAL CONTOUR SHAPING

Improved handling and cornering through unique tyre contouring.
It was Pirelli that used ICS (Ideal Contour Shaping) technology to optimise the contour and structure of the new P Zero Velo tyres. The use of CAD software with consistent use of the scientific Finite Element Method (FEM) was used to optimise the design parameters for the tyre contour and to simulate performance. As a result, the P Zero Velo tyres offer the optimum synthesis of grip, driving stability and reaction and control behaviour in the different driving situations (straights, downhill and curves).

Casing

P ZERO Velo Tub is based on a fine 320TPI Corespun casing reinforced with aramid fibres, which increases puncture protection and improves the tyre's comfort and handling.

Inner tube

P ZERO Velo Tub has an optimised latex inner tube. This minimises rolling resistance and increases puncture protection. The dimensions and thickness of the tube have also been optimised to ensure better air retention and reduce stretch to guarantee the best puncture protection for the tyre.

Usage

The P Zero Velo Tub is a "ready-to-race" tubular tyre. A tyre that is very suitable for Granfondo races as well as short distance high speed races and daily training session. Ideal for triathletes, time trial and criterium riders.

Very well suited for TT, super light - and aero bikes.
