Experienced cyclists and more and more recreational cyclists swear by the onion layer principle when it comes to their cycling clothing. The cycling clothing worn directly on the body - usually the functional vest - transports moisture away from the body to the outside and keeps the body pleasantly dry. But the most important piece of cycling clothing next to the helmet is and remains the cycling shorts, because they are a sensitive point of contact between man and machine. The range of legwear for cyclists is large: from tight-fitting road cycling shorts to casually wide shorts and casual trekking shorts with separate inner pants, the cycle clothing market offers everything a cyclist's heart desires. Road shoes or special cycling shoes is a question of pedals

While recreational cyclists and people who ride to work usually wear normal street shoes or trainers, mountain bikers and road cyclists ride with special cycling shoes that they can snap into their clipless pedals - also known casually as clickies. The advantage of a firm connection between shoe and pedal is more efficient power transmission. You can not only pedal, but also pull. Furthermore, cycling shoes offer a better grip and greater safety on unpaved paths, as you cannot slip off and your foot has a defined position on the pedal.
